The educational process appears to be one of the most momentous stages of people’s lives. It allows the younger generations to get knowledge associated with all fields of society’s existence. However, during the learning process, students often encounter difficulties, which negatively affect their academic performance. Only by overcoming these obstacles, students will be able to achieve success. It is just necessary to identify the main problems.
For some people, student life is associated with a variety of activities and fun. It seems to be a carefree and easy life period. However, some students feel constant stress because of such changes in their lives. Negative emotions and anxiety become their permanent “companions”. All of these factors badly affect the learning process. One cannot deny that constant emotional stress does not allow students to fully concentrate on their studies. They begin to withdraw into themselves trying to solve problems: “There’s a lot of stress out there, and to handle it, you just need to believe in yourself; always go back to the person that you know you are, and don’t let anybody tell you any different, because everyone’s special and everyone’s awesome” (Barber 56). As a result, the importance of the learning process pales into insignificance. Moreover, a sense of unrealized creates additional pressure on the students.
Another difficulty impeding student achievement is related to the absence of interest to the learning process. The educational program is often overloaded with not exciting and useless information. Students are required to spend a lot of time and effort to the study of the theoretical foundations that they will never need: “The wrong things are predominantly stressed in the educational institutions. These things are remote from the student’s experience and need. They just turn into a piece of meaningless luggage with wasted strength and hope” (Barber 11). Therefore, students are trying to pay the minimum time for learning. Doubtless, such a kind of education does not bring the necessary knowledge and experience. The learning process is transformed into tedious routine, which is not able to promote students’ interest. In such conditions growth of the academic performance is simply impossible.
One more obstacle is based on the lack of communication between students and teachers. Educators are not able to find a contact with the audience. In this case, they are trying to find the most effective ways to influence students. However, these methods are not associated with friendliness and cordiality. As a general rule, they are based on the severity and ubiquitous control. Although this fact makes the situation even worse, teachers do not abandon their principles. Thus, students start to avoid contact with lecturers by means of minimizing the time spent on the study of the discipline. From these facts, one may conclude that the learning process does not bring any benefit or pleasure. Student performance gradually decreases with no chance for rehabilitation.
To draw the conclusion, one can say that students appear to be the basis of society’s future development. They have to become highly educated and fully developed members of the modern world. It is just necessary to not forget that education is a very complex process, which depends on many nuances. One of its key aspects the student’s desire to get knowledge appears to be. Exactly this nuance has always been a fundamental principle of future success.
